Giri Gupta, QSM


Mr Gupta is a successful businessman with interests in hospitality, travel and tourism and media and respected personality of the New Zealand Indian community. An alumnus of the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, India, and the University of Texas, Mr Gupta has worked as an engineer in the automotive industry in the United States. He has also owned businesses in India before moving to New Zealand two decades ago.

Dr the Hon Richard Worth OBE, KStJ, KCCR

Deputy Chairman

Dr Worth is a lawyer based in New Zealand. He is a company director and former Minister of the Crown. He is actively involved in international trade with a focus on Asia and is the past Chairman of business associations with a focus on India, Korea, and Hong Kong. He has a longstanding relationship with the Indian community in New Zealand. His interests include Mountain climbing with high altitude ascents in the Eastern Himalayas, the South American Andes and East Africa. He serves as the Head of Mission for the Government of Monaco in New Zealand.

Dr Don Brash

Deputy Chairman

Dr Brash has had broad experience in the public and private sectors. Currently chairman of the New Zealand subsidiary of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, he was Leader of the National Party in Parliament for more than three years, and prior to entering Parliament was 14 years Governor of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand. He has worked as an economist with the World Bank, has undertaken consulting assignments on economics and taxation in many countries, mainly in Asia, and has been the CEO of an investment bank, the New Zealand Kiwifruit Authority, and a large retail bank.

Sunil Kaushal

Sunil Kaushal is a Company Director with interests in Business, Commerce and International Trade particularly focusing on India. He previously held senior roles in ANZ Bank New Zealand Limited including the Head of India Relations where he was responsible for the development of the strategy and execution for the Indian market. He has first-hand on the ground experience in guiding New Zealand firms expand into India. He is frequently invited by industry and academia for comments on New Zealand and India.

Sudhanshu Mehta

Sudhanshu Mehta, a successful Business Leader, Entrepreneur and Socialist with a demonstrated history of working in Public relation and Business Development for various Hi-Tech Technology and Smart solutions to Oil and Gas Industry, Defence, Smart City Development, IT, Telecom. He has Strong business acumen and an ability to identify and understand the issues to decide the right course of action thereby contributing more than just numbers. He is Chairman and Managing Director of JOSLER Group of Companies. His core areas of expertise include Business Development, Asset Evaluation, Public relations and Coordination with government and private agencies. During his tenure of 20 years with Government Services he had worked closely with many Hon’ble Ministers and Bureaucrats and has a wide exposure of various Business development activities at National and International level. He commands excellent public relations with diplomats, bureaucrats and journalists in India and abroad. He is a founder trustee of Sudhanshu Mehta Foundation a registered charitable trust working actively in Varanasi for various noble cause, mainly are Jal Shav Vahini (Dead Body Mortuary), Water Ambulance and environment friendly E-boats.


Stephen Brown

Stephen is one of New Zealand’s leading players of first class cricket. He has played with cricket legends such as John Wright for many years.

Edwin Paul

Executive Committee Member – Education

Edwin is a serial entrepreneur whose expertise is a combination of Entrepreneurial skills, Technology smarts, International business and Consultancy. An academic by accident and a marketer by choice, he is currently a Business Development Consultant for the International Higher Education industry in New Zealand. Edwin’s forte is his knowledge and expertise in consulting for transnational businesses, gained through experience in starting up businesses both in India & New Zealand. Currently on the Board of Directors of multiple companies in both India and New Zealand, he enjoys doing business as a Kiwi in India & an Indian in Aotearoa. As an old school audiophile his interests includes vintage audio equipments, vinyl collection and the pursuit of pure sound.

Pawan Arora


Pawan is a student pursuing a conjoint degree in Law & Commerce that has interests ranging from forex trading to playing tennis. In addition to his studies, he works as an Accounts Manager for a number of New Zealand owned companies. Over the past few years Pawan has sat on several youth and student run boards from which he has gained invaluable experience, which he plans on using in his current role. Mr Arora is the youngest member of ITA’s core group.

Aldrin Thayalakal

Aldrin Thayalakal has been associated with investments and consulting for over 20 years. His experience is spread across India, Middle east and Europe with various institutions. His key skill sets include raising capital for entities, nurturing strategy, building systems / controls and assisting in exits. Aldrin’s consulting facet focuses on ‘sustainability’ from investor viewpoint and socio-economic assessments and impacts for mainly infrastructure projects.

He is a qualified CPA, CFA and did his masters in economics. He is currently a partner with Endeavour Capital, New Zealand and also advisor to Turnkey Group, Singapore and New Zealand Dairy Products.

He is an avid trekker and mountaineer and has scaled various peaks in Asia and Africa.

Maria Gray

Ex Officio : New Zealand Trade and Enterprise

Maria Gray is the Market Manager for India , Middle East and Africa ( IMEA) at New Zealand Trade & Enterprise. She has a history of experience in business, marketing and international trade. For the past 14 years, Maria has worked with NZ businesses looking to enter new markets or grow in existing markets. She has worked in Asia, co-running a timber business and working with the education sector and is now focused on her role as the NZ contact point for IMEA. She works closely with NZInc partners and helps resolve issues NZ businesses have with the IMEA region, including India, supporting the Trade Commissioners and Regional Director to achieve their goals of growing NZ businesses bigger better faster in their region. On a daily basis Maria advises on IMEA issues and concerns, develops programmes for visiting government delegations and gives input to the NZTE teams offshore within IMEA. Maria has a Bachelor in Business Studies and a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing.

Richard White

Richard White is the former New Zealand Trade Commissioner to India and is an international trade and business growth specialist with extensive public and private sector experience and global networks that encompass business, government, diplomatic and innovation communities. He have an especially strong connection with India thanks to my time there as New Zealand Trade Commissioner (and his brief but spectacular Bollywood acting career), but have also transacted business in many other parts of Asia as well as the Middle East, Australia and the United States.

Surinder Ogra

Surinder Ogra is a Trade Specialist with ASB. He is also member of Institue of Directors in New Zealand. Surinder believes that when businesses seek the right advise in areas of governance specially when entering into the Indian market, can help them eliminate various international trading risks, like country risk, settlement risk, payment risk, exchange risk, commodity, pricing and performance risks.

Michael Henstock

He helps clients prioritise and effectively engage with stakeholders who matter most to their organisations and objectives.

Michael has worked with Government Ministers and Ministries, International sports teams, corporate boards. He has expertise in crisis management and risk mitigation, as well as new market development and brand building.
